Youth Care
Kids Haven extends care and support to children and young people who leave residential care and young people living in families under challenging circumstances.

Youth Hub: The Pathway Programme
The Pathway Programme is a 12-week in-person programme for young people who have completed Matric and for school drop-outs. Kids Haven offers an holistic and individualized approach – recognising that one solution does not suit every young person and that each one must find an individual pathway. These young people are given time to build their social skills and confidence and understand their learning and career preferences. The Pathway Programme incorporates skills for employment and provides networking and exposure opportunities to young people so that they may have first-hand experiences of the broad world of work. The programme incorporates digital literacy, life skills, therapy and inclusion in preventative GBV and HIV workshops. Coaching and mentorship is key. Specialized therapy is available at no charge. Young people receive help with transport money and food as they begin their first jobs or enter into training. These initiatives empower young people to successfully navigate today’s job market and prepare for future employment opportunities or further education and training.
Resource Support
We provide tailored resource support for youth exiting care or lacking family support. This includes help with housing, employment, educational resources, and other essential needs to assist them as they transition into independent living.

Networking opportunities
Our young people get an opportunity to better understand the world of work. They could visit a business for a day to get an experience of the working world and to meet people in that world. Or bring some of your team to share their stories and typical working days with our young people here at Kids Haven. We rely on these opportunities to inspire our young people, broaden their horizons and make them curious. The young people need to hear from real people in the working world and understand that every career path is usually NOT A to B and which skills are highly prized by employers. We are calling on corporates, factory owners, SMMEs – anyone running a business really – to bring the world of work closer to young people from challenging circumstances.
Monthly career talks
Every fourth Thursday we organize a Kids Haven Career Talk. The Career Talks are in person at Kids Haven Benoni. It is an opportunity for our young people to hear from professional working people about what their job and career entail.

Career Expos
Career Expos are held several times a year at Kids Haven Benoni and are aimed at Grade 8-11 teenagers. Our goal is simple: To expose young people to a wide range of professions and industries so they can choose the right subjects at school and commit to doing their very best in school. Career expos provide direction to future studying or practical work experiences. Expos feature interactive workshops, engaging presentations and hands-on activities. Want to get involved? Contact us.
Entrepreneurial experience
Hands-on experience on how to start your own business is immensely important in our country. Our young people are exposed to local entrepreneurs who share their trade and offer some practical experience such as re-upholstering pre-loved furniture, sewing, cooking, panel beating, graphic design, and more.
