Fill a black bag with clothes
Fill a black bag with second-hand clothes to donate – they can be children’s clothing or adults’ clothing. You can also donate toys, books and other household items.

Make meals in a bag
Make five servings of meal-in-a-bag and earn one hour. Each bag must include 1/2 cup uncooked rice, 1/2 cup split peas, 1/2 cup lentils, one stock cube, and 1 packet of soup powder in a sealed ziplock bag.

Food Parcel
Please pack your parcel into a reusable fabric shopping bag. A good food parcel contains some mielie meal, sugar, tins of beans and tomatoes, some spices (Aromat or similar), peanut butter in a plastic tub or jam and something sweet like a packet of biscuits.

Plan a party
Donate party packs for 20 children, including juice, chips or similar, sweets, biscuits – in a party bag or box.

Toiletry Pack
Donate a Toiletry Pack. Please try to use a drawstring bag or zip bag for your toiletry pack. A good toiletry pack contains roll-on deodorant, body cream, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, and sanitary pads if you are making it for a girl.

Bake 40 beautiful biscuits
Bake 40 beautiful homemade biscuits. Please wrap them up in pairs in plastic wrap or bags. We will pop them into the lunch packs for school. If they are not wrapped or bagged, they go soggy next to the sandwich!

Make Mac n Cheese
Make Mac n Cheese in a LARGE foil roasting dish to serve 10 children. You can freeze before donating if you want to. You can add some protein into the meal if you like, such as bacon, mince, and chicken.

Bake birthday cake
Bake a large birthday cake that can serve 20 children. Decorate it as beautifully as you can for a boy or a girl. Pop in some candles if you can.
In-person Volunteering Community Hours – Benoni
Kids Haven appreciates older teenagers who can connect directly with the children in the Kids Haven Community Preschool. We need 1 -2 teenagers who are willing to read to the children, promote story-telling and assist the pre-school team in the daily programme, providing extra one-on-one support to the children who attend. The hours are from 8:30 – 12:30 during weekdays in government school term time. Please book your spot through volunteers@kidshaven.co.za.
In-Person Volunteering Community Hours – Bryanston
Community Hours volunteers are needed to help at our Bryanston office in the Cramerview Shopping Centre on Saturday mornings. The role involves receiving, re-packing, and checking donations. The hours are from 9 AM to 2 PM (5 hours). We can accommodate 1 – 4 teenagers per Saturday. Please book your spot through reception@kidshaven.co.za.
