Our Charity Shops
The Kids Haven charity shops rely solely on the generosity of our donors, who kindly donate their second-hand goods to us.
All goods received are first sorted to select what can be used for our children. The remainder of the goods are sorted for sale in our two charity shops at 38 Cranbourne Avenue and Tait House at 140 Woburn Ave, Benoni, 1500.
The income generated from the shops goes to funding operational expenses like rates and taxes, utilities, networking and security. This is vital income that we need for these essential services.
Your donation supports small business
Many of our shoppers run their own micro businesses in their communities, on selling goods from Kids Haven, which helps them to support and care for their own families.
Pre-Loved Books
Kids Haven relies on the generous donations from the public to help support the children that are taken into their care. One of Kids Haven’s fundraising initiatives is the selling of the “Pre-Loved Books” that have been donated by the public. After selecting books for children in our care, volunteers catalogue all the donated books and then distribute them to the different charity shops and markets where they are available for sale. All the proceeds from these sales go back to the running of the Kids Haven; looking after the children that are in Kids Haven’s care.
Pre-Loved Books at Kids Haven has a superb and varied selection of books and bargains for sale. Please contact us on hello@kidshaven.co.za if you are looking for any particular book, special author, genre or type of book, e.g., books suitable for readers aged 10-12, and we’ll see if we have it available for you. Prices range from just R20 to R40 for most books, including children’s books.
