Thing are warming up at Kids Haven
While winter is well on its way, things are hotting up at Kids Haven as we look forward to some exciting upcoming events. We’d love you to get involved. Take a look…
Come and laugh for a good cause – Nik Rabinowitz’s Geriatric Millennial
Nik Rabinowitz is taking the stage for his new comedy show – Geriatric Millennials – and we are getting in on the action. Kids Haven is filling the theatre to raise funds for education – that’s all things relating to school like school fees, uniforms, stationery, textbooks and more. Join us on:
- Thurs 31 July
- Theatre on the Square Sandton at 19:30
- R350 per ticket
Pay via EFT: Kids Haven, Nedbank, Account number: 1948063824, Ref: theatre+surname. Or use the Yoco QR code below. Email hello@kidshaven.co.za with proof of payment to secure your seats.

Here’s what you can expect:
This winter, comedian Nik Rabinowitz hobbles triumphantly back to Sandton’s Theatre on the Square to bring you his new stand-up special GERIATRIC MILLENNIAL– because nothing says “comedy gold” like a generation that remembers dial-up internet sounds but can’t remember if they took their statins last night. Join Nik as he navigates the treacherous terrain of middle-aged millennial life-like refusing to buy reading glasses (while changing his phone’s font size to “legally blind”) and struggling to play padel with a “dicky knee that was surgically butchered in the mid-90s. (“It’s never quite been the same” – a phrase he now uses to describe his knee, his sex life AND his relationship with lactose). Laugh until your back spasms!
See you there!

A birdie and a bogey? Yes, our much-anticipated Golf Day is coming

Rumour has it this year is going to be Kids Haven’s best Golf Day ever. So, get out your clubs and come and join us on Thursday 9 October at the Wanderers Golf Club. Contact Sue Daly on sued@kidshaven.co.za to enter your four-ball.
You don’t play golf, you say? Well, there are still many ways in which you can help us make it a success.
We are looking for sponsorships for the half-way house and the dinner as well as hole sponsorships.
We need four-ball prizes, donated prizes to auction off, vouchers, weekends away and items such as wine, gin, whiskey, t-shirts, umbrellas, appliances, chocolates, biltong, anything really that we can put into hampers.
Goodie bags and items to go inside – we love spoiling our golfers with a goodie bag so if you could donate 300 bags or items to go inside these, we would be so grateful.
Contact Connie on connie@kidshaven.co.za for prize donations or more information.
See you on the course!
Do your online shopping and help us at the same time!

Show up and shine – cover a basic salary for our working young people

The ability to work and finding employment is the biggest gamechanger for young people in our country. This is our greatest wish for our Kids Haven young people and we are working tirelessly to make it happen.
How? We match businesses with young people suited to certain jobs and Kids Haven covers their basic salary for three months while they work in that business. The business gets an employee for three-months without having any financial commitments and the young person has an opportunity to Show up and Shine. And they do!
We have had great success with this model seeing many of our young people receiving offers of permanent employment after the three-month period.
Supporting these young people for three-months is a big expense for Kids Haven and we need help.
Can you sponsor a young person for three months at R4 500 per month?
That’s an investment of R13 500 to help a young person start their career, become independent and basically change the course of their life forever.
Contact Ilka on youth@kidshaven.co.za to get involved. We need you!
Monthly donations are a win for us
We so appreciate our monthly debit-order donors. Receiving a regular amount we can rely on each month helps with budgeting, saving and planning. It’s a predictable income. Even just a R100 a month makes a big difference. We’d like to thank our current debit-order donors and encourage you to consider become one if you aren’t already. Become a monthly donor
You are making an impact
Take a look at our latest Impact at a Glance report to see the impact your involvement is making to our Pillars of Care – Preventative Care, Incare Residential Care and Aftercare. Thanks to our wonderful Kids Haven community we have been able to provide protection, care and education for our children and young adults for another financial year (April 2024 – March 2025). Please continue you support so we can continue serving our community.
Taal Net Brentwood – A wonderful day of service
Taal Net Brentwood School recently visited Kids Haven as part of their volunteer day. The group of teachers and students made an impact by sorting out books and puzzles at the warehouse, cleaning at the Centre and sorting items at the charity clothing shop. They also got stuck in peeling and chopping veggies in the kitchen, helping maZulu make her famous chakalaka. They ended their visit with a prayer to bless all the children at Kids Haven and a request to please come back. Absolutely! Please come back Taal Net Brentwood. Your kind acts of service have made a big difference.
